Victoria Park — Stow Brothers

Welcome to Victoria Park

“Vicky Park” to just about everyone who loves it—is more than just a green space; it’s a London institution. Opened in 1845 after a whopping 30,000 residents petitioned for it, it was designed as the “People’s Park”—a much-needed escape for Eastenders looking for fresh air and open space. Inspired by Regent’s Park, it quickly became a hub of leisure, political rallies, and even Victorian bathing ponds.

Our local guide: Victoria Park

Fast forward a couple of centuries, and Vicky Park is still the heart and soul of East London life. Strolling through, you’ll find lakes with pedal boats, sprawling lawns, a Japanese garden, and even a skatepark. The park also hosts incredible festivals—from All Points East to local food markets, there’s always something going on.

Nearby, Pophams serves up flaky, buttery, life-changing pastries, while BLAS is the kind of independent coffee shop that locals swear by. For those who prefer a bit more adrenaline, Stronghold Climbing Centre offers top-tier indoor bouldering just around the corner.

Of course, no great park is complete without proper pubs. The Lauriston is a local favourite, known for its wood-fired pizzas and lively atmosphere. The People’s Park Tavern is the go-to for craft beers and Sunday roasts, while The Royal Inn on the Park delivers pint-in-hand views of the greenery. If you fancy something a bit more traditional, The Castle offers a cosy, old-school pub experience with a buzzing beer garden.
